Solid batch dosing systems are automation systems that weigh and dose solid raw materials in powder and granular form in batches according to a recipe. They are preferred especially in production processes where different raw materials must be mixed in precise ratios.
In solid batch dosing systems, each raw material is controlled by its own feeding equipment and weighing unit. Dosing is PLC-controlled and works on the gain-in-weight principle. The weight of the material in the weigh vessel or hopper is measured continuously by load cells, and feeding stops automatically when the target weight is reached. As the target approaches, fast/slow feeding and pre-cut algorithms increase dosing accuracy.
Operating Principle
In recipe-based operation, raw materials are fed into the weigh vessel in a defined order according to the recipe selected by the operator. When the set weight for each raw material is reached, the system automatically moves on to the next one. When all raw materials have been dosed, the batch is completed and the dosed materials are transferred to the mixer, reactor or relevant process.
Automation and Control
Solid batch dosing systems are managed with a PLC and operator panel / SCADA infrastructure. Through the system you can easily monitor and control:
• Recipe creation and editing
• Number of batches and dosing sequence
• Weighing tolerances
• Fast / slow feed settings
• Production, consumption and error reports
Advantages
• High accuracy and repeatability
• Flexible, recipe-based production
• Precise dosing of different solid raw materials
• Traceability and reporting of production data
• Minimized operator errors
Applications
Solid batch dosing systems are widely used in food, chemicals, plastics, building materials, cement and similar industries, in all processes that require batch production and high-precision weighing.
