Dilute-Phase Pneumatic Conveying Systems

Dilute-phase pneumatic conveying systems convey powder and granular materials through a pipeline at high air velocity and low material concentration. The material is carried suspended in the air stream, and these systems generally work on the low-pressure, high-flow principle.
In dilute-phase systems, the conveying air pressure is low but the air flow is high, so the material travels along the pipeline at high speed. Their simpler design and lower initial investment cost are among the most important advantages of dilute-phase systems.

Operating Principle

At the feed point, the material is fed into the pipeline in a controlled way, usually by a rotary valve, screw feeder or similar equipment. The air flow generated by a blower or fan carries the material from the source to the destination silo, cyclone or filter unit. Conveying can be carried out under positive pressure or vacuum (negative pressure).

Automation and Control

Dilute-phase pneumatic conveying systems are PLC-controlled. Via the operator panel or SCADA you can easily manage:
• Source and destination selection
• Conveying times
• Blower and valve control
• Level and fill tracking
• Alarm and safety monitoring
At the end of conveying, the system automatically purges the pipeline for a safe stop.

Advantages

• Simple, reliable system design
• Low initial investment cost
• High conveying capacity
• Conveying from multiple sources or to multiple destinations
• Easy operation and maintenance

Applications

Dilute-phase pneumatic conveying systems are preferred for powder and granular materials that are not fragile, have low abrasiveness and no segregation problems. They are widely used in food, plastics, chemicals, building materials and many other industries.
